Ross studied music at Bath Spa University where he gained his BAHonours and PGCE teaching qualifications. He then spent several years as Head of Music at a secondary school where he shared his passion for Singing and Music Theatre with his students and led his students to win Andover’s got talent for 3 consecutive years.
In recent years he has been musical director for productions such as ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, 'Seussical the Musical', 'Grease', and most recently 'Fame' and he has performed leading roles in a number of amateur musicals and operas including Les Miserables, Company, and Stravinskys ‘Reynard’. He has run some very successful community choirs regularly conducts local bands and orchestras.
Ross formed and prepared a youth choir to accompany Britains Got Talent act 'Collabro' at the Mayflower Theatre Southampton. He also prepared a choir to sing for a show at Sadlers Wells theatre in London And has taught singing to students who have been cast in Matilda and School of Rock in the west end London Tours. He also taught a ‘The Voice Kids’ semi finalist.
Ross has been performing as a working musician since the age of 11 and has performed in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and the Millennium Dome (O2) as well as performing in Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, and South Africa. Ross believes that music should be accessible to all and works as a Secondary music teacher and has worked as musical director for Theatretrain music theatre school in Southampton and as a vocal and woodwind teacher for Hampshire music service.
Ross is excited to be directing Amesbury Community Soul Singers and hopes to share his experience and enthusiasm to inspire our members to not only sing, but to enjoy singing!
